//battle of rococo, and the walls came…

tumbling up? strikingly finished?

i’m not sure if you ever had to stand in the corner as a form of punishment, but “i have a friend” who did. there once was a specific time (i hold dear to my heart) when i was 11ish and far too old to be standing in the corner learning a lesson. my mom’s rationale was that “if [i] wanted to act like a child, then [i’d] be treated like a child.” well if i had these aesthetics, or my mom had a savvy decorating sense (take that mom-that’s for the age-inappropriate discipline), those wasted minutes/hours could have been a time of inspiration… you’ll see what i mean

my mom used to use wallpaper a lot. i remember going to the store as a kid and picking out the best of the best; what comes to mind is a cream floral border with maroon and forest green and screaming of the early 90s. it used to be cool, and then something happened in my immediate surroundings where paint made the comeback of the century. but watch out miller.

print has come a loooong way. oh the possibilities for beautiful wallpaper. our resources seem endless. how will you ever decide?

funny you should ask. artist ludovica gioscia may have foreseen a solution to the problem of limitations. the rococo hardcore installation presents layers upon layers of pattern certainly making for a stunning visual. an incredible mix of pop imagery, traditional decorative prints, and abstract geometry—pushes the concept of interior decor to the point of pure decadence.

I remember the day my mother forgot my sister in the corner for over an hour. When she remembered, my sister was found asleep, standing up. None of my friends growing up or as adults had ever heard of such a punishment. Your post made me smile and be thankful that someone else spent time in a corner. 🙂
